- Installed at the bottom of the tank, the horizontal tank heaters are equipped with perforated finned tubes to create an efficient thermo-siphon effect, thus keeping the tank contents agitated. The heating fluid used can be steam, oil or water.
- A lower skin temperature prevents from deterioration in case of heat sensitive fluids; coking and development of residue on the tube are reduced.
- The total cost (heaters and installation) is lower than traditional bare heating coils.
- Due to low skin temperature and high thermal convection velocity, surfaces remain scale and dirt free for long periods, thus maintaining heat capacity and reducing operating cost for the customer.
- Vertical heaters with plain fins are designed for specific applications such as sulphur storage and melting.
- The "T" type is used in trucks or tankers; they are immersed from the roof.
- Horizontal heaters with tank mounting flange: installed on a manhole flange, these heaters allow a complete insulation between the heating circuit and the liquid in the tank. It avoids connections inside the tank.
